Porcelain body bamboo weaving, also known as “bamboo silk porcelain”, is a distinctive variety of bamboo textile craftsmanship. This art form involves weaving delicate bamboo silk and soft bamboo strips around a porcelain base, merging the elegance of porcelain with the natural beauty of bamboo. 🌿🍶

Selection of Bamboo Silk 🌱

The bamboo silk used in porcelain body bamboo weaving is carefully selected. Out of the more than a hundred types of bamboo found in Sichuan, only the Cizhu bamboo, which grows in the Qionglai Mountains, is chosen.

• The bamboo must be two-year-old with a joint spacing of at least 66 cm.
• It must be free of any scratches or damage.

From 50 kilograms of Cizhu bamboo, only 400 grams of bamboo silk are extracted. The resulting threads are fine and smooth, with uniform thickness, flexibility, and remarkable strength, making the technical demands of production exceptionally high. 🌾

Weaving Technique 🧵

The weaving process itself is highly intricate and difficult, requiring precision at every stage. From the initial base, flipping the base, flipping the top, to securing the edges — every step must be performed without visible joints, twisted threads, or other mistakes.
